Central Serous Retinopathy

Central Serous Retinopathy

Central Serous Retinopathy involving a build-up of fluid around the retina. This condition may be correlated with increased age, increased stress, and a possible adverse effect of corticosteroid medicines. The fluid build-up places increased pressure on the retina. This increases the chance of retinal detachment.
The main symptom of Central Serous Retinopathy is blurry vision. It is possible to view other symptoms if retinal detachment occurs or if the macula is affected.
Diagnosis is conducted utilizing the results of Optical Coherence Tomography and Fluorescein angiography. This allows for the retina to be viewed closely and to determine the location of the fluid build-up, respectively. Treatment generally consists of laser therapy.

Pigmented retinal lesions:

Pigmented retinal lesions tend to be small, benign lesions on the retina.
Often times, these lesions do not lead to any symptoms within the patient. However, further diagnostic testing and observation of the lesion may be done to verify that the lesion is not in fact cancerous.
If in severe cases, a cancerous lesion is present, laser, radiotherapy, and/or surgery may be conducted to remove the cancer.
